This is not a comprehensive page but instead a few snippets of notes.
I aim to record to about -12dB peaks.
Menu > REC MODE > MULTI FILE
To enable useage of the Zoom as a 4track, plug 2 1/4”/XLRs into the 1 and 2 inputs at the bottom of the Zoom. Plug a stereo 1/8” (3.5mm) into the crossed pair capsule mic unit’s input. When recording, the tracks will be saved to the Multi File section of the SD card.
Note: You can optionally choose to link inputs 1 and 2 (as a second stereo pair) so that it saves 2 stereo audio tracks on the multi file section of the SD card when you record. To turn this feature on, press the 2 track button while pressing and holding 1.
“I generally am inclined towards the brusque fast approach than microscopic and meticulous. I always smooth things over but often the way I work is by bouncing down stereo improvisational jams that intentionally limit my ability to retread on them” –from Tim Hecker’s reddit AMA “My only tip would be to try to go crazy with effects to the point where you no longer understand what is happening, where the source material separates from the process of the signal treatment and it becomes some kind of manifestation of a dream state. Part of the trick is to lose yourself and not control it. Signal chains that have three delays, a bunch of compressors, reverbs, etc. Compression into expansion. Short room verbs into massive caverns. Then pitch that down an octave and you’re somewhere different.” –from Three Questions with Tim Hecker
