#FRI 10/28 Ecco: The Videos of Oneohtrix Point Never and Related Works TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS, OCT 18–NOV 19, 2016 12-4pm FREE Organized around the work of Oneohtrix Point Never—the recording alias of electronic musician, composer, and producer Daniel Lopatin—this program includes a selection of self-produced music videos alongside collaborations with artists Rick Alverson, John Michael Boling, Nate Boyce, Takeshi Murata, and Jon Rafman. Rooted in early video effects and the history of experimental cinema, the visual and musical output surrounding Oneohtrix Point Never takes the form of complex assemblages of sound and image that are developed in equal measure.
#SAT 10/29 Mutant Salon: Festival De Las Muertas The Hammer Museum 11am-5pm (SAME TIME ON SUNDAY) FREE The Hammer Museum presents Mutant Salon’s Festival De Las Muertas, a performance and art festival that will engage audiences through a mutant beauty parlor, collaborative art installation, performances, happenings, music, poetry readings, and a selection of zines by members of the extended Mutant Salon community of queer, trans, womyn, POC, and mutant artists and performers. Collectively, these artists are changing the cultural fabric of Los Angeles outside of institutional spaces. In the spirit of openness and expansion, Festival De Las Muertas welcomes diverse audiences at the Hammer Museum to partake in the individual and collective social, political, and aesthetic transformations that this community embodies.

Join us for an informal guided conversation art exploring these topics with artists Nao Bustamante and Rodney McMillian, and theorists Meiling Cheng and Amelia Jones. Opening Reception, 2:30 – 5pm Beta Main opens with Suzanne Lacy and Andrea Bowers’ durational performance. Come see their work—and our new museum—begin to take shape. All are welcome. The Main Museum of Los Angeles Art is an evolving institution focused on L.A. art and artists. With a residency program at its center rather than a collection. When complete, The Main will unfold across three historic buildings in Downtown Los Angeles. A preliminary experimental space, Beta Main, opens October 30.
