Tomo Jacobson is a Polish-born double bass player based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He focuses his efforts on free improv and other creative musics. He is a founder of the yearly Freedom Music Festival, which is focused on solo and duo free improvised concerts. Sun Araw is the working title of artist Cameron Stallones for his project focused on futuristic electronic improvised musics. The Orchardist is the new moniker of audio / visual project of Grant Corum, from Portland, OR's out-there psychedelic community MILLION BRAZILIANS. Embassador Dulgoon is the alias of multi-instrumentalist Nicolas Carcavilla hailing from Santiago, Chile who delivers a fantastic concoction of wild compositions that streaming together elements of mysterious electronics, shadowy synthesizers and intermixed crypto-zoological sampling among daring melodies that create a truly unique vision for Dulgoon's one night presentation.

In 1950, Luis Buñuel won the Best Director Award at Cannes and the Ariel Award for Best Director (Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas) for Los Olvidados. Yet, this film caused controversy for its depiction of a brutal group of street kids living in urban poverty. This film has two endings, and tonight, for the first time in Los Angeles, the "Alternate Ending" will be screened alongside the canonical version of the film. This event is presented in partnership with the Luis Buñuel Film Institute. Our evening includes: "Noche in Mexico" Fiesta Touristic Photo Studio Screening of Los Olvidados with both* endings Overview of Luis Buñuel's experiences in Mexico Melodic Sounds in the garden with DJ Lance Rock*

Kate Durbin is an artist and writer. Her books include E! Entertainment (Wonder) The Ravenous Audience (Akashic Books), and the collaboration ABRA (1913 Press). ABRA is also a free, interactive iOS app, which won the 2017 Turn On Literature Prize for electronic literature and a grant from the Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago. Her next book of poems, HOARDERS, is forthcoming in 2019 from Spork. Morgan Parker is the author of There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyoncé and Other People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up at Night. In 2019, a third collection of poems, Magical Negro, will be published by Tin House, and a young adult novel will be published with Delacorte Press. Emily Skillings is the author of the poetry collection Fort Not (The Song Cave, 2017), which Publishers Weekly called a “fabulously eccentric, hypnotic, and hypervigilant debut,” as well as two chapbooks, Backchannel (Poor Claudia) and Linnaeus: The 26 Sexual Practices of Plants (No, Dear/ Small Anchor Press).

VOLUME and Human Resources are honored to present a performance of Cage’s Ryoanji by flutist Christine Tavolacci, co-founder and co-director of the celebrated Southland ensemble, and percussionist Ted Byrnes as the closing event of “Cosm, Organization-Construction, Second Instance.” This evening will present a unique opportunity to experience the final articulation of this important artwork in tandem with an interpretation of Cage’s composition by two leading figures in contemporary experimental music.
